Gayton Young Adults

Gayton Young Adult Life (College & Beyond) is a ministry of Gayton Baptist Church for all young adults— ages 18-30’s and it exists to reach and lead young adults to experience life in Jesus Christ through:

• Discipleship: in worship, prayer, and the Word of God
• Community: in connection, fun, support & encouragement
• Action​: in opportunities for leadership, outreach, serving, and missions 

This is a ministry for college and grad students (College) and young career professionals, singles or marrieds (Beyond) - ALL young adults, ages 18-30, are welcome!

2026 Discipleship Program - Rooted: Growing Through Scripture and Spiritual Discipline:

This year, our church family has been on a year-long discipleship initiative called Rooted: Growing through Scripture Memory and Spiritual Disciplines. Each month we focus on one spiritual discipline, learning what it is and how it helps us deepen our relationship with Jesus. With each discipline, a larger Scripture passage is offered each month for those who wish to read, study, and/or memorize it. Additionally, a weekly Bible memory verse is introduced each Sunday. This is for everyone, from children to senior adults. Scripture memory can be practiced together in small groups, families, among friends friendships, and shared in creative ways, including reciting to staff or submitting video recordings throughout the year. As a church, we are celebrating our progress together, tracking how much Scripture we are learning, and enjoying occasional fun challenges along the way. All of this is with the shared goal of growing more deeply rooted in Jesus Christ and His Word. Click Here to Check Out The Rooted initiative!

Sundays

• 10am: Worship (for whole church)
• 11am: Bible Study Hour with classes for all ages (See other classes here)
• College Brunch Bible Study (for ages 18-23) - Pumphouse Cafe and Fireplace Area
• Beyond Bible Study (young adults 20’s-30’s) - Rm. 223

Summer Tuesdays

5:30-7:30pm: “Go with the FLOW” (Faith Life Outside these Walls) - ENDS AUGUST 11 (with Worship Night)

For Young Adults → College and Beyond (18-30)

Young adults meet for dinner at chosen locations. Everyone gets his/her own meal; and we gather for fellowship, conversation, dinner, prayer and a scriptural devotional time. At the end of the gathering, we decide where we will meet the following Tuesday (aka. A park, a home, a restaurant…), then we decide in the moment if we want to continue to hang out after the meal for a fun outing (ice cream, a movie, a game night, pickleball, etc.) 

-July 21: Luck stone quarry- bring blankets/chars/dinner/friend (Rain location- Jen's house)

Sunday, July 26: Baking Blitz #1

1. Bake one or more batches of cookies, brownies or treats! Put in a sealed disposable container.

2. Label with what they are and basic ingredients.

3. Bring to Gayton’s small kitchen as you come to worship in July 26th!

4. Volunteers will be delivering these to busineses after church to share with their employees. Each container will be labeled with encouragement and invitation to our Neighbor Day.

5. Our goal is to collect at least 50 containers of treats to share with local businesses in our community to share love and kindness to our neighbors! Click HERE to see more about Neighbor Day!

NEW DATE: Sun, July 26: College and Beyond Young Adult Kings Dominion Day:

Young adults are invited to join us for a fun day at Kings Dominion right after worship. Bring $ for entrance & food. We can meet at the park by 1 PM. Folks can come and go as needed. 

Sunday, August 9: Church Picnic! For everyone! 4:00-7:00pm. Deep Run Park!

Enjoy an evening of fun, food, and fellowship for all ages! Games and activities begin at 4:15 PM, including our popular Name Tag Game, followed by dinner at 5:00 PM. Please save the date and sign up to bring food to the picnic HERE.

A discipleship outreach event promoting our Fall ministries!

ALL of Gayton is invited to help this day!

In the evening: Fellowship, FUN & Community Worship!

Young Adult Afterglows start Wednesdays, beginning September 9 @ 7:00PM-8:15PM by Fireplace!

Wed, Sept. 16: 516 Fellowship (will go from 9/16-10/28 → Sept/Oct)

• 5:16pm: Church Dinner (provided by church groups/classes)
• 6:00pm: Discipleship Choices 

(IE. Bible studies, men/women groups, prayer group, other topics)

Young Adults can come to the dinner and plug into a group - age does not matter. 

• 7:00-8:15pm: College and Beyond Young Adult AFTERGLOW 

formerly called LifeNights - for community and worship. Young Adults are encouraged to come to the 516 meal and discipleship classes - then stay for community time in fun and worship OR you can just come on and join us at 7:00pm.

• October: Worship Nights/College & YA day-retreat.
• November 22: 5th Annual Friendsgiving - for both youth and young adults 
• December: Young Adult Christmas Gathering TBD/ Church Music Program
• January 29-31: DNOW 2027 (in-house retreat for youth!)/ Youth Sunday!
• February: Super Bowl lunch
• March: College and Beyond Young Adult Spring Retreat
• Spring: Easter events & services/ Creative Worship Night - “Say So”
